Carley and Fozzie Bear (the Fozz)
Carley is a 7 year old red and white sweetheart. Fozzie is a black and white energetic 3 year old. They have been in the same home, together, all their lives.
Carley is a very affectionate (and sometimes slightly aloof or timid) girl. She will sit quietly with you while you rub and scratch her, or will go straight to one of her doggie beds. She is afraid of storms and loud noises, so it's under the bed with the first clap of thunder. Carley is leash trained, so loves to go for a walk. She also loves to go for a ride if she gets the chance.
Fozzie, at the age of 3, is still full of puppy energy. He is a VERY loving and playful little guy, and has an endless supply of doggie kisses for anyone that gets in his path. He loves his toys and will play tug of war or fetch with you for about as long as you have the energy to do so. Fozzie is also great on a leash.
Carley and Fozzie are both GREAT with their potty training. There are no issues there. Both are trained to go into their kennel at bedtime or work time. They will obey "nitey nite" or "kennel". They were used to a 3' X 4' X 2.5' gage metal type kennel that they stayed in together. They have also been tested with some household freedom with their foster parents during the work day, and there have been NO issues.
They both get along well with other dogs, although Carley will give a grumpy warning if one of her foster sibling canines gets too close to her doggy bed. Carley and Fozzie would do well in a house with another small breed canine. Carley is also said to be good around cats. Both would be fine in a home with children in their teens , but would not be recommended for a household with younger children.
This beautiful pair deserves to spend the rest of their lives together.
Due to having treated several heartworm positive dogs recently, we DO require past proof of h/w tests & preventative given if you own a dog. We do NOT consider it proof if you have just had the h/w test done or bought preventative for the first time prior to or after putting in an application.
Out of the Area? We will gladly do a "long distance" adoption, however we do not ship our dogs. We expect you to come and pick up your dog. As all our dogs are in foster homes in different places, that would mean you would need to travel to the foster home to pick up the dog (not necessarily in St Louis). Family members or friends are not allowed to pick up the dog unless the adopter is with them. We will not consider an adoption out of area without a vet and groomer reference.

We do not place dogs in homes with toddlers and babies. Please read the shelter home page for placement restrictions prior to submitting an application. Our group does have a policy of only placing dogs in homes where all pets are spayed or neutered.
Our Adoption fees are based on the age of the dog and range from $350 to $200 each, and are used to pay the vet expenses. All dogs are up to date on shots, heartworm negative, spayed or neutered and any known problems are treated before they can be adopted. Last year our vet bills were $3000. higher than our adoption fees, so we are not able to adopt dogs without an adoption fee.
