Carmella

Carmella came to us from a shelter environment. She was left tied to a tree in the middle of a city park. The shelter believes she is between 1 and 3 years old. Carmella is a very smart and playful pup who will make a great addition to a home with kids. She is a good dog and desperately wants to please her people. :). She can be VERY high energy. Some attributes about her are below: * She is VERY food motivated. She loves food and will do most anything for some treats. She will have to be reminded not to beg at the table, etc, as she seems to have been given people food in the past. * She loves attention, particularly chin and belly rubs. She especially likes these things at night before bedtime. * She appears very teachable, but any particular skill may take a little time for her to learn. For instance, she had not been in a crate when we first got her, and the first few days she was very hesitant to go in. But after 2 weeks, she walks right in now without any treats, and she settles down right away. She knows we are coming back and has learned to trust us in that * She gets really excited when you come home. :) You will need to remind her not to jump during this time, and sometimes she doesn't know her own strength. * She loves to be around her people and will want to follow you around the house. * She loves to chew - hard (nylabone type) toys are best! * She can be very fast. We would recommend not letting her off leash until you are very comfortable that you can keep her attention and get her to return to you. * We trust her around our kids, and she is typically very gentle with them (unless they rile her up). * She likes walks, but can get a little anxious on them, particularly with other people around, so be prepared with treats to calm her back down. Other dogs do not seem to bother her much on walks.
