He follows people around the house and is a bit stealthy, so it can be easy to trip over him. He likes to cuddle, and just wants to be near you. He is housebroken and learned to use the doggie door. He rarely barks at the window, and is generally quiet inside the house. He loves his food and hangs around the kitchen. Eating around other dogs is challenging because he's the annoying little brother who sits next to you at the table and says 'Are you gonna eat that?' He doesn't have food guarding issues, but he will steal another dogs food, so he shouldn't be in a home that allows grazing (free feeding) or be fed along with a dog that only eats slowly. He doesn't seem interested in toys, but sometimes shows interest in playing with other dogs. He should not be in a home with cats or other animals. He tolerates tooth brushing (finger brush), combing, ear cleaning, baths, and nail trims. He would do well as an only dog, but would be good in a home with dogs that have a calm, patient temperament. For the most part he's good on walks. He follows as well as any basset, but is not much of a sniffer, although that may change. He pulls a bit to meet people, and seems to be ok meeting young children. The real challenge is meeting other dogs. While he's not aggressive, he does pull to greet them and then barks in their faces, with his very big basset bark. Most other dogs find that rude! His foster mom is working on that issue, but a potential adopter must be willing to work on that as well.
