Behavioral notes:
8/3/24 volunteer notes: Cassandra is such a love bug! When we got outside, she was so good on a leash and jumped up on the bench with me and gave me lots of kisses. She also jumped down to explore some on her own and walk around the yard, but didn't show high energy at all. She mostly wanted to chill and seems like a medium to low energy dog. VGG!
8/2/24 overnight foster notes: Cassandra is amazing! She has such a charming character that makes people fall in love with her instantly. I introduced her to my neighbors, and all of them fell in love with her. She was a bit shy and seemed to be nervous at first, but she opened up very quickly with gentle manners. I believe she is crate-trained and housebroken. She is good at riding cars too. She slept well inside the crate last night. And I had the crate door open overnight, and she seemed very comfortable inside - she even snored a bit!
Ican tell that she really enjoys going outside for a walk. I had no trouble holding her near me - there was no leash-pulling at all, and when I asked her to "wait" before crossing, she waited very patiently. We encountered some people and dogs during the walk, but she didn't seem to mind at all, even when small dogs barked at her. Inside the house, she loved to sit under the sunlight and just watch people passing by.
Cassandra is super adorable and very well-trained. She really is just a perfect and loyal dog. I am already looking forward to having more day trips with her. And I really hope she finds a family who will give her all the love she deserves very soon.
7/29/24: Super sweet girl. Was nervous and stiff coming out of kennel, but quickly warmed up. Leaned into other staff in the office for pets, allowed me to put harness and collar on with no issues. Tail started wagging. By the time we got up to the adoptions lobby she was fine. A kid (maybe 4 or 5) approached asking to pet, but I said no because she's nervous as a precaution. The kid got pretty close though and she was fine. Allowed me to touch her abscess.
7/27/24 per staff: Took Cassandra out for a walk. No issues leashing or returning. She presented throughout with various signs of elevated FAS and submissive body language: eyes wide, slightly bobbing and weaving, trembling, ears back, hunched posture, tail tucked, but opened up while outdoors (posture up, ears up, curious and exploring). Walked well on leash, no pulling or darting. Met Uzi on the other side of the fence briefly while in the play yard, but paid him hardly any attention
