My Story

Currently in a foster home in the Abingdon, MD area and can be met with an approved app. 7/14/24 **Update** Chapo was adopted and in a new home where he learned basic commands and is now house and crate trained. His adopted family had a new baby and they don't feel they can care for him and the baby so he is now in need of a new home, hopefully one where he can live out the rest of his days loved and happy. 8/12/23 Chapo was found chained in a backyard of an abandoned house left to die. He had cuts and lacerations all over his body (possible bait dog) and an injury to his spine that left him unable to walk on his own. He had hair loss and very skinny at 45 pounds. Since he's come into rescue he is thriving! He started to regain mobility and is able to walk and run now too. We do not know how he obtained the spine injury but there is a compressed disk and some nerve issues that is too dangerous to perform surgery on so we have been advised to leave him be and enjoy his life, he doesn't have any pain. He will always have a little bouncy booty walk (so adorable)! He has gained weight and is now at a healthy 60ish pounds. He has the biggest smile and happiest temperament and you can't help but smile when you see him. He's gentle and kind and loves people. He gets along with other dogs too but he's not been cat tested. Short walks, little outings to explore and a warm, comfortable bed at night would make this hunky dude happy for the rest of his life. There is a short video of him on our FB page. The adoption fee is $350 which covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, HW testing, chipping, health certificate and transport fees. All our dogs come with a 30 day, money back, trial period to make sure they are the right fit in your environment but if it doesn’t work you will have to foster until the dog gets rehomed. Tall Tails Rescue has a commitment to these dogs for their lifetime and we hope you do too!
