My Story

Charlotte is a lean, leggy, agile 3 year old girl who has been deaf since birth. She spent the first 2+ years of her life kept in a bedroom and missed a lot of critical socialization. We are making up for lost time, but Charlotte is basically a puppy in a 60lb body. Charlotte is crate trained, housebroken, people friendly, and walks mostly well on a harness. She does have some reactivity walking past other dogs and is friendly but very excited when she sees people. She enjoys a good sniff walk very much! At this time, Charlotte is recommended for a home with no dogs, no other small animals, and no small children due to her mouthiness and size. Being deaf, Charlotte relies on her sight and her mouth to communicate. When she gets excited, over tired, or needs something, she can be mouthy. She is very smart and teachable and by simply walking away, this behavior has improved considerably in just a few short weeks. Charlotte is currently in a crate & rotate foster, and really needs a home all her own. Being deaf, she watches you constantly, wants to be always under foot, and learns your routine quickly. Plus side is you never have to worry about fireworks, thunderstorms or accidentally waking her! She loves to play. Chewy items are her favorite, but she also loves tug toys and snatching her leash off high surfaces and whipping it around. She is learning how to just hang out and snuggle. She's an excellent searcher and would love someone to play sniffy games with her. Charlotte's ideal home is probably a moderately active one with no other pets and kids big enough to not get clobbered or nipped by her when she's excited. She thrives with routine and needs a home with a patient and gentle training approach, as she's an anxious and sensitive soul. Most importantly, she needs to be someone's ride or die because she's just a super fun dog who wants to love you completely.
