Cherry

Introducing Cherry, a beautiful 6-year-old Terrier/Pit Bull Mix who came to the shelter as a stray. She weighs 77 pounds. Our volunteer Chris has been working with her and this is what he has to say about her: "Cherry is easy to leash and walk, with no pulling. She loves treats and knows basic commands like sit and lay down. Her personality is calm, sweet, and gentle, and she can't get enough love. She adores food, people, and just being outside." Chris notes, "Honestly, Cherry is one of the easiest dogs I've worked with at WVHS. Leashed up easy, walked out calmly and with great manners on leash, no fence aggression, took brushing well-no resource guarding that I observed. Very, very chill. She is easy to leash and handle, with minimal pulling. Words that describe her best are sweet, calm but not aloof, and gentler than she looks." Cherry will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement and fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important. If you have other dogs in your home, we would be happy to arrange a meet and greet with your dog(s) to ensure everyone gets along. We do not know how she will do with cats. Cherry is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed, and ready to go home today.
