My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Say hello to Little Miss Chickadee! This pretty baby landed on the euthanasia list, together with her two siblings, at the shelter in Bastrop TX. Thankfully, when we made a post about these pups, one of our foster families stepped up to pull them to safety and foster them. Our best guess is that Chickadee is most likely Anatolian Shepherd mix, but her coloring is different from her siblings, so we're thinking mom might have had multiple suitors. Maybe Chickee's dad was a Black-Mouth Cur? The only thing we can say for sure is that she's every bit as cute and friendly as the little bird that shares her name. Chickadee has an estimated birthday of 2/4/2024, and since she and her siblings were surrendered to the shelter by their previous family, we think that should be very close to their actual birthday. She weighed about 28 lbs when she got her rabies vaccination at 4 months old, so it's reasonable to guess that she could grow up to be 70-80 lbs as a young adult. In her first foster home, Chickadee was exposed to chicken and sheep, but only in very limited and supervised situations. Mostly, she and her siblings have been puppies, allowed to play with each other and with adult dogs. Chickee LOVES the water but more than ANYTHING, she just wants to be loved by her people. She is a cuddler of the highest order. Chickadee has had all her vaccinations and will be scheduled for spay surgery as required by Texas law. If you would like to consider making her part of your family, please complete the online application. PLEASE NOTE: Chickadee was on a tie-out ONLY FOR THE PURPOSES OF THESE PHOTOS. It can be really tough to get photos of a puppy who wants to run and play and explore everything. The tie-out limits her movements and makes it easier to use both hands on the phone/camera. Once the photo session was done, Chickadee was returned to the puppy play yard.
