Chico

Chico! This is one amazing boy! He has a beautiful black coat with a patch of white under his neck. Chico is just over a year old weighs 55 pounds and is a chunk of burning love! I started noticing Chico as I was driving to the gym every day. I would pass by this bright purple house in this low income neighborhood, and I would see him and I always checked to make sure that he wasn't skinny and needed food. One day I saw a lady across the road from that house feeding him so I stopped because that's what nosy rescue people do lol I started talking to the lady that owns him, and they were very poor, but they took very good care of him. I stayed in contact with her because the weather was cold and I was worried she was gonna leave him outside. I took her some wood chips and a dog house and things like that. She contacted me one day because Chico had gotten out of her yard and animal patrol had come by and given her a citation. They told her because of his breed they had him down as a Terrier That she would have to carry insurance on him in order to keep him. I went with her to the town and met with the animal control officer. I told him you can look at him until he is not a Terrier. He is a lab mix he may have some terrier in him or some other kind but he is not a full-blooded terrier. The gentleman did not care. He just wanted to assert his authority and make a point. I told him that there was no way they could afford it so I would be bringing the dog into Rescue and bringing him home with me. When I took him to the vet he was a healthy boy. He was mild microfilaria positive so we had to put him through heartworm treatment. He cleared really quickly and now he is ready to find his very own home. He gets along well with all dogs even small ones that aggravate him like my small dog did lol his only fault is he jumps up a little bit he needs to learn a little bit of restraint when it comes to loving on his people. He walks great on the leash and will need some potty training. This boy is just amazing and I look forward to him finding his forever home! As I stated he was in a home with children so he is fine with children, but I think he would chase cats so probably a new cat household would be better.
