My Story

Chico is a neutered, 66lb, approx. 1 yr 10 month old male dog. He is a young, playful pup and loves everyone. He is very friendly, knows his basic commands, has great recall, is house broken, very eager to please, and knows how to use a doggy door. He was found as a stray in Southern California in April 2023. His foster parents were able to contact his original owners because he is microchipped, but unfortunately they didn't want him back, so now he's in search of his forever home! Chico happily goes on two walks a day. Chico has something called Brucella Canis, which he has been on antibiotics since May 19 and is no longer shedding the bacteria but unfortunately this is something that is not curable. It is low risk for pet-owners, but is higher risk for pregnant women and immunocompromised people. Ideally, Chico should be in a home without other dogs, pregnant women, or immunocompromised people. Cats are ok - Brucella Canis cannot be contracted by cats. He is a very good boy, and deserves a loving home. Chico is good with other dogs, but because of his medical condition, he should not be around other dogs, unfortunately. Chico is located in La Mesa, CA (his foster parents are more than willing to drive to the new family to relocate him) Contact info: Jill Shields ([email protected] 408-410-7434) and Pat Shields ([email protected] 408-612-1482)
