My Story

Animal Profile: Chico is an estimated 2-year-old , ~20 lb male chihuahua/dachshund who was taken in as a stray to the very crowded San Bernadino city shelter. He was kenneled with four other dogs with no issues. We will share more once we get to know him in foster care. Foster Update: Chico's foster mom shares, "This is one agreeable and snuggly puppy friend. He likes things that are fun for dogs such as long strolls and belly rubs. He just went on a 7 mile hike with us and didn't slow down the whole way, in fact he seemed to enjoy the sport of hopping along on logs and boulders. He is captivated by other dogs playing ball, but doesn't chase after a ball himself; he seems to enjoy being a spectator. He's gentle with cats, kind of stoic and uninterested, and dogs close to his size he gets along with. With bigger dogs, he'll react if he gets too close or they linger nose to nose he'll lose his composure. However, he is really warming up to larger dogs now the more he settles in. He is getting better on the leash and just watching bunnies and squirrels now. Chico can be a little unsettled at first in the crate but gets over it after a few minutes. Very sweet and only hops on the couch or other comfy places if he's invited by you. I'd recommend he's with others in an office or somewhere he can be close to you during the day, he'll follow you anywhere and stay by your side " Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate.
