My Story

CJ is 4 years old. He weighs approx. 22 lbs. He was an owner surrender 2 years ago. He came to us with severe diarrhea and his first family spent a lot of time at the vet trying to figure out what was going on. When they were unsuccessful they gave him to another family but did not disclose his health issues. The 2nd family was not willing to deal with his health issues and put him outside to live before calling us. CJ came to live with us and we have spent some time trying to help him. I feel that we have now gotten him to a state with his diarrhea that he would do well in a home with a family willing to manage him as we have found what will work for the most part. He MUST eat a specific diet and can not have anything off of that diet or he will have the worst diarrhea you can imagine. CJ is a fun loving and very playful guy. He likes to go for walks but gets very excited. He enjoys the fenced in yard and LOVES Toys. He does well with the other dogs here at the rescue but he is a resource guarder so we just have to be careful if he has his favorite toy, food, or bone. We manage is resource guarding by making sure we feed him in a crate alone and to keep his mind busy he always has a benebone in his crate. This is the only bone that he can have because he is unable to get any real pieces off and it is not a rawhide. He will chase a ball but doesn't bring it back. LOL. He is not able to have stuffed toys because he guards them and shreds them. He is a runner, if he gets away he will run for a very long time and will only come to his bowl of food when he is ready. I am trying to disclose all that we have learned about him so that we can match him with the best fit home for him. He will require food Management and the occasional medication for the vet if he does have a flare up. I hope this information has helped you make a decision on weather CJ is the right dog for your family.
