My Story

Clark is a 4-year-old, 78-pound, neutered male and a giant sweetie with a lot to say. He came into rescue as a reactive, blustery street fellow, and with good socialization and a lot of work (including the help of a trainer), Clark Griswold has come a long way! Clark sings when he is excited getting ready to go for a walk. He does well on the leash, and is a handsome runner. His foster family has taken him running up to 8-miles, and it's like an easy cruise for Clark. Mr. Griswold would love to be part of your neighborhood HOA and lay down all the laws about speeding, he has worked with his foster to work with him to ignore passing cars while on the run or walk and is getting much better. Walking with treats has helped reinforce good behavior. Mr. Griswold just finished his third vacation trip to Colorado with his foster family. He did well in the car with chew bones for distraction. He had lots of off leash time running in the National Forest doing dog stuff like chasing chipmunks and baby grouse, and had excellent recall the entire time! This dog is not a runaway risk and just wants to please and hang out with his humans. Clark loves toys, tearing them apart, but has never turned his attentions to destroying anything else in the house. He will happily busy himself with a Nylabone or deer antler. He is highly food-motivated, will surf the counters if left unsupervised, and has never met a snack without his name on it. He currently has a male foster brother, and they wrestle and play together now. It took a little bit of time to adjust and get to that point but he is great now. Clark is house trained and uses a doggy door. He does well when left out in the house while his humans are gone. The ideal forever home for Clark would be a family who can appreciate his energetic Labrador-like style and continue building his manners. Clark loves to play tug with his toys and wrestle with his human. He is a big dog who doesn't yet recognize how to tone it down for little humans, and while he does well with his foster family's 11yo kiddo, he might be a lot for a younger child. He is being fostered in the San Antonio area if you are interested in adopting him.
