PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. She was originally adopted with two other dogs in the group, all at the same time. Everything seemed to be going great and it seemed like the family was dedicated to her. That was until she broke out and was attacked by a coyote. Poor Cleo showed up back home after about 24 hours, all kinds of torn up with a huge and horrible gash on her back leg. Shortly after this happened, Cleo started to show signs of PTSD and was becoming protective of her mom and dad from the other dogs. Back when we first got Cleo from our county municipal shelter back in 2021, she had been not only dumped at the shelter after hours, she was tossed over their 6 foot play yard fence. She was dumped on a Sunday when the staff was gone and found Monday morning when they let another dog out, and she was hiding against the fence and trees. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see her. After we took her in, we got her cleaned up and she just had so much personality and sass and love to give. We tried to explain to her adopters why she was acting out and how we could help to fix it, they said they couldn't risk it and she was returned. Poor Cleo was so depressed to be back in our kennels, it took 3 days for her to do anything besides come off her bed. It took 2 weeks for her sass and smile to come back. Thankfully, Ms. Freya needed Cleo just as much as Cleo needed her and they helped each other heal. Now Cleo is all put back together again and has resumed her Princess duties of ruling over all beneath her. She loves to play with other dogs but especially loves kids. She can't control her excitement when she see's little ones. She'll tell you all about her thoughts and wants in the world and give you the best cuddles alonth with it. She absolutely loves playing with toys and then will decide it's time for that fluffy to go. There is nothing Cleo won't do for the ones she loves and she will capture your heart with one Awoo.
