We’d like to introduce Clint, THE most loving, sweetheart of a guy. ? Clint was found on the side of the road and was very rough looking. His fur was so dry and brittle, coming out in clumps; he was so emaciated….you could see just about every bone. He’s a full grown Shepherd and only weighed 42lbs. We were very concerned about his health and ran initial bloodwork to rule out a few things, including Valley Fever. After the first few days of Clint’s arrival, we grew more concerned. He never had a solid bowel movement, only copious amounts of diarrhea. We’ve never seen anything like it. We, of course, assumed he had parasites as we waited on the results. Nope. No parasites. Then his bloodwork came back negative for Valley Fever, and “all over the place” on other areas. It was mentioned that we test for EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) as German Shepherds seem to be predisposed to this. Sure enough, he tested positive for EPI. Clint’s body lacks the enzymes to break down fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Therefore his body cannot absorb any nutrients and everything just passes straight through him. Despite the abundance of food he was eating, he could not gain a pound! After receiving the positive diagnosis and then administering the powdered pancreatic enzymes at every feeding, Clint has AMAZED us! He weighs about 75lbs now and he has a beautiful full coat now. It was an immediate fix once the supplement was given. From day one, Clint has always been the sweetest, most loving guy. ? He’s so eager to please, give love and BE loved!
