If your application is approved, you will be required to come to us to pick up your dog.** Coco is 11 years old and she's diabetic, but not on a special diet, as per our vet's recommendation. Her insulin dosage is 5 units of 40u insulin once a day with breakfast. She absolutely loves all food and treats, but with diabetes, the amount she eats each day would need to be carefully controlled! She is almost entirely blind. She will follow her person around the house and is almost always in the same room. After a while, she will really warm up and is quite affectionate. However, because of this, she would probably do best in a home where she is the only dog because she gets territorial of her space with her person. Not physically aggressive, but a lot of barking. She will also bark at your face when she wants your attention and to be petted. Because of her diabetes, she is mostly pad trained, but she will not hold it, so she needs someone with patience and preferably very free access to a fenced-in yard. Someone who is home with her most of the time would be ideal. Located in St. Louis, her adoption fee is $65.
