My Story

A volunteer who spent time with me said: "Cookie was such a sweetie! She loves her pets, and gives great kisses! Cookie pulled hard on the leash. She was affectionate, independent, and had a medium energy level. Cookie may be potty trained, because she did her business immediately upon going outside. Cookie took treats that were offered. She seemed very playful and interested in other dogs she saw." Cookie #MASA4938 went on a foster field trip over the weekend, and this is what her chaperone said about the time they spent together: "Cookie was just as sweet as her name! Her ears are unforgettable! She loved the car and settled in immediately. She was very well-mannered on her leash and knew the "sit command. She had the softest head I have ever felt, and she loved head scratches. Cookie was a little bit camera shy and was preoccupied with exploring the grass and nature at Shelby Farms. She enjoyed pets and rubs from all the people out walking and was very friendly! She did not eat any of the dog treats I brought for her but drank lots of water and tried some cheese! But then we went to Starbucks and she LOVED her pup cup! Cookie would be a great addition to any family and seemed very kid-friendly! " Cookie is urgent, so we'd love to see her adopted or rescued asap. Cookie would do best in a single dog home. If you're interested in Cookie, email [email protected], call 901-636-1416, or come into the shelter during visiting hours to meet her! Cookie recently spent time with some of our photo volunteers. Here's what they said about her: "Cookie is a Super People-Friendly Dog. This girl's special power is sitting patiently while compelling humans for treats and pets." Cookie was part of play group on 5/11/2. She was friendly, social, and playful. However, she could be a bully with her play and was also conflict driven when a fight broke out between other dogs. Cookie was brought out for playgroup on 5/13/21. She was very reactive walking past dogs in two different play yards, so she was put in a yard by herself. She continued to bark and attempted to fence fight with dogs that were entering the play yard, so she was taken inside. Cookie was part of play group on 5/18/21. She was friendly, social, and playful. Cookie was given some outside time on 6/25/21. Even when a dog was in the yard next to her, she sniffed them through the fence and went about herself. Cookie was part of playgroup on 7/1/21. She was friendly, social, curious, and tolerant. She enjoyed splashing and laying in the pools. Cookie was part of play group on 7/4/21. She was very conflict driven when a fight broke out in the catch pen and seemed to have a hard time calming down after that so she was moved to her own yard.
