Cooper

On April 23rd, 2004 hunters dumped Cooper along with 2 other hounds in deplorable condition on a horse farm in SC. They were skeletons at barely 30 pounds (when they should have been at least 60), had horrible skin infections and every parasite possible. We feel they had been intentionally starved, neglected and likely abused. They were provided immediate veterinary care and had to be given multiple small meals a day as they were at risk for starvation syndrome. Cooper was terrified of everything and even the other dogs. We feel he was likely the lowest member of the pack so was likely getting picked on in the horrible environment they were in. (The last picture is not of him, but the best picture we have to show the condition they were dumped in.) Over the last 2 months they have flourished in foster care. Cooper's brothers have both been adopted and now that he is on his own he's coming out of his shell. He is a loving lap dog and just wants to please!! We estimate Cooper to be between 5-6 years old. His skin has healed, he is rid of parasites, is fully vaccinated and has gained at least 25 pounds. He has been neutered and micro-chipped. We feel that he will be best as a solo companion, as we don't think he will be able to shake the past and being the low man on the totem pole. He will need a large area to run and/or companion who likes to hike/go on runs. We do not know if he's good with cats yet. He is sooo sweet and we want to give this boy the life he deserves!
