Cooper Heeler

Cooper, affectionately known as Coop, King Coopa, and Keeper, is a distinguished cattle dog with a heart of gold and a voice to match. Despite his age and some physical limitations, Cooper's sweetness and exuberance light up any room he enters. This old boy has a passion for learning, and an unparalleled love for his people. Despite a rough start, being found emaciated on the side of the road, Cooper's spirit shines bright and he has healed so much in the last five months. He's a musical pup and likes to howl whenever the human kid plays her harmonica or rings her bicycle bells, which his foster family thinks is hilarious. Cooper wants nothing more than to be by your side. He's incredibly clingy and finds comfort in being close to his people, whether it's curling up on the couch together or snuggling in bed at night. That being said, Cooper spooks easily with his degenerating vision and hearing. He is on a few medications to help keep him comfortable, including eye drops and allergy pills. He is a champion when it comes to taking his meds! Cooper would do best in a home with no cats or other dogs, and older, gentle children only. He is very much a heeler, and will nip gently to show affection when he's excited. Cooper is HW+, but is being treated. He's a loyal friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin, bringing endless love and laugher. Cooper is a true testament to the saying "old dogs can learn new tricks." Despite his age, he's as eager as ever to keep his mind and body active. He's strong on a leash, and very clutzy in the house at times. His foster mom is working on training a consistent 'heel' command. He is the perfect companion for long walks where he can explore and stretch his legs. He loves agility and has learned how to weave through legs, jump up and down off of ledges, and more. Coop is a dog who thrives with daily exercise and mental stimulation. His food motivation and focus on his human makes training a breeze. Cooper is searching for a forever home where he can continue his journey as a beloved sidekick. He is still learning to be comfortable as a "house dog". He loves to be outside and to sunbathe, so a home with a yard is a huge plus for him as well.
