My Story

Dakota is a mature adult Rat Terrier looking for a home that wants a well-mannered snuggly companion that enjoys walks as well. Dakota is housetrained, cratetrained, and has ideal manners in the house. He is good with other dogs (though likes those who respect his space best), okay with older dog-savvy kids, and cannot go to a home with cats. He loves car rides, loves to sleep in bed at night, and gets so excited when he sees his leash come out! Dakota has food allergies to chicken so is fed a beef dog food and does well on it. He has been well trained and knows how to sit and is reliable ff leash once he knows you. He loves his squeaky toys but otherwise is more mellow in the house, pepping up for his walks. He is the whole package..manners, smarts, and love! For obvious reasons, all animals adopted from Homeward Bound MUST live indoors only. This dog has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and tested for heartworm/lyme disease. UPDATE: Dakota is the perfect snuggly lap sitter. He would be ideal for an older or retired person who wants a dog to relax and snuggle with. He bonds to his owner hard and loves them with all his heart. He has wonderful manners, tolerates the other dogs, and tolerates the kids but prefers the adults so much more. He has the most adorable habit...when his foster mom calls him 'Koda, Koda, Koda!' He runs all around and zooms all around the house and zooms like crazy. It's hilarious to watch. Dakota may not be much to look at...he's downright ugly some think but his personality is so cute!
