My Story

Daphne joined Mattie's Place with his siblings; Scooby, Fred and Shaggy. They've been given a date of birth of: May 2, 2024 They've received their 1st round of vaccines and deworming June 16th, 2024. Daphne received her 2nd round of vaccines/deworming July 22 and weighed in at 6.2 KG. They will receive their spay/neuters September 3 in Stouffville. You must be available that day to meet at the vet (Mattie's Place will also be on site) at 7:30 am and be available for discharge at 3:00 pm which will form part of the adoption contract - (this is a non-negotiable) The 2 golden siblings are being fostered together (Daphne & Scooby) with a resident dog and they all get along well. Though they look very similar, Scooby is a bit bigger than his sister Daphne. We don't know who the parents are of these pups. They originated in Northern Ontario, in Kenora, which is located close to the Manitoba/Ontario border. 2 of the siblings are bigger, fluffier and black with some white, so it's really hard to tell who the parents are, I'm sure a mix of a lot of things. Dogs can have different fathers in the same litter, so maybe the 2 Goldens have a different Dad or the pair of similar looking 2's could take after either parent. I have absolutely no idea. They are the same age and they were found together without parents. Presumably; Retriever, German Shepherd, Husky? But I have absolutely no idea. This litter of 4 is a conundrum to me. They are however, really great puppies. Super smart and social. I have no idea if they'll be 50 pound dogs or 100 pound dogs, so if you're applying to adopt, be prepared for whatever size they may grow into. We can get a better idea of adult weight when they're 5 to 6 months old, but really hard to say at this age. They are not cat tested, but at this young age with a dog savvy cat, proper introductions should create a good relationship. They are fantastic dogs that are ready to find fantastic adopters ready to devote themselves to puppyhood and professional training and all the good things that puppies bring. Though puppies are really hard work if you set them up for success, you'll have an amazing canine companion for many years to come. FROM HIS FOSTER: My name is Daphne and I’m a sweet girl who loves to play and chase my fur sibling. I may not be as fast as him right now, but I never give up and eventually I catch him so we can have a little wrestle in the grass. Don’t let my pretty face fool you as I can be quite feisty and I’m not afraid to tell you. I have found my voice and like to talk - my foster mom tells me I shouldn’t talk back but I can’t help myself. I’m learning my manners and sit very nicely while I wait for my meals, but if it takes too long, I let them know. My foster mom says I’m doing really well at house training and letting her know when I need to go outside. After running around playing, I really enjoy cuddling up for a nap during the day, and settle in very well when it’s bedtime. I can’t quite hold it all night yet so I wake up my foster mom to take me out once through the night, but she doesn’t mind as we wake up to a clean crate every morning. I’m a playful girl who can be mischievous at times but I listen well and I’m learning boundaries. I know I have lots to learn so be patient and we can do it together if you’re the right family for me. I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can play and enjoy cuddles with my very own humans. ---------------------- To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in his current &/or previous setting.
