My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Daphne, 2 years old, spayed female, Cattle Dog/Terrier mix, 40 pounds. She is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State to an approved adopter. Like so many of our dogs, Daphne was on a euthanasia list at the county shelter in Houston. She is currently in a foster home with another dog. Daphne is a friendly and adaptable dog who quickly bonds with other dogs and enjoys playing with them, adjusting her energy level based on her companions. She is generally quiet and has low to medium energy at home, though she can be high energy and barky in certain situations. Daphne is good at reading other dogs' cues during play and gets along well with dogs of all sizes and breeds. She enjoys playing chase and can be quite energetic, especially with dogs who match her energy level. She attends a doggy daycare a few days a week and has a great time! She is comfortable playing with all sizes and breeds, with no reported issues. We have no history with cats. She has met and hung out with a 13 year old child (they do not live in the home) . She was initially nervous that resolved quickly into playfulness. She enjoyed the snuggles and pets. We recommend a home with kids 8 years and older. She walks nicely on a leash with minimal pulling, comfortable walking at your side or slightly ahead. She is fully housebroken and is initially vocal when crated alone, but does settle down. When you are home and she is crated she prefers being able to see you or to have the crate door open. Daphne shares toys and treats with and around her foster brother. She enjoys rope and plush toys, likes to chew on them. She thrives in an active environment, whether indoors or outdoors; would do well in an apartment or condo with moderate activity levels. She bonds quickly with dogs and benefits from having another dog or active family members for company. Daphne prefers gradual introductions to new people and can be overwhelmed in busy social settings; not aggressive, but cautious and flighty. She likes car rides but needs to be secured due to moving around. Daphne would thrive in a home where she can stay active and engaged, with opportunities for play and exercise. A family willing to provide patient introductions and steady companionship would be ideal. She enjoys affection and cuddling, especially at night. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
