My Story

We got a call about a puppy and we had helped at this home before. Our Foster went to get the puppy and we will never forget the call…mind you, it’s December so it’s cold and snowy! “There’s another dog here chained up, Outside!” He was chained to a house with no food or shelter and lived that way for over 4 YEARS!! We had to take him. Dom is approximately 5 yo, neutered, UTD and one very awesome, sweet boy! He’s pretty submissive and wants to play with every dog he sees. He is not a fan of cats though. He is potty and crate trained, L??VES walks, energetic, agile and VERY treat motivated. He is not a fan of bicycles either so you could train to desensitize him or make it a leave it. The journey of teaching Dom how to dog has been a success! Fosters were conservative with his exposure the other pets in their home, as we always should be. So what is his breed mix? We are so glad you asked. He’s a Basenji mix. Basenjis tend to be high spirited, have endless curiousity, protective of their family, aloof around strangers and tend to pick favorite family members. But the best attribute is that they yodel! Sometimes they bark here and there but Bajenjis tend to not bark much or at all. This is not a breed mix we see very frequently. We’ve had 1 other in our rescue and some of you know her and can attest to her loyalty, curiosity and affection for her people. If you’re interested in meeting Dom or better yet making him part of your family, here is how you make that happen….. ? all current/recent pets in the home must be spayed/neutered ?All current/recent pets in the home must be UTD on vaccinations, test annually for HW and in HW Preventive regularly ?Adoption$ include first round of vaccinations, rabies (if of age), spay/neuter and microchip ?Go to midlandcountypitstop.org Go to forms and click on “I want to adopt” Please contact us by messenger, text or call 989.948.1096 with any questions you may have.
