My Story

Meet Dominic AKA Roscoe! He originally came to TCHS as a transfer. He was adopted and returned due to not being a good fit for the home. He has been sweet and playful with staff since his arrival. He has met other dogs and has done well with friendly dogs after proper introductions. He has met cats and seemed to be a bit too interested in them. He would do best in a cat-free home. He has lived with older kids and was a bit nervous around them. Slow and proper introductions are always recommended whenever introducing a new animal to the home. In the home, Dominic was described as a love bug who loves to play. He is a champ at tug of war and likes soft toys. At bedtime he'll be sure to snuggle up to his people and steal a pillow. Dominic's favorite place to be is outside - please don't judge him by his behavior in his kennel; he does not show well and appears stressed in it. Ask to see him outside to get to know the real him! Dominic recently went on a field trip with a longtime volunteer, and she reported the following: He did very well in the car, sitting nicely. He loves belly rubs. He was fascinated by the Mississippi River. He walks well on a leash, but does best with a weis walkie or front clipping harness. He knows how to "sit" on cue, and has been learning lay down, come, stay, roll over, and shake. He absolutely loves treats. And during his field trip, when he saw other dogs outside, he did not react at all. (He was not a fan of seeing bicycles, though!) Dominic can be nervous when initially meeting men, going slow (and with some treats) is a great way to help Dominic get comfortable with strangers. All introductions to new places and faces should be slow and proper! Ask TCHS staff for tips. Come get to know Dominic today! Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures and general care.
