Dopey

***Currently located in Huntington Beach, CA *** Hello! I am Dopey of the Seven Dwarves litter. Our mother is a family pet here in Mexico, but her human could not care for all seven of us, too. She was overwhelmed trying to provide us with the basic necessities and was relieved to have help from Surfers for Strays. Before there was room for us in the SFS program, the dedicated volunteers came by several times a week to care for us. We had fungal infections, were full of worms, and needed regular baths. We were itchy inside and out. Despite these ailments, all seven of us survived (which is rare for local litters)! We are grateful to have been rescued at such a young age, as our hearts are open and trusting and we believe in the good in the world! We are eager to love and be loved and experience everything that entails. We spent some time in quarantine working on our health and are now looking good enough to explore what lies beyond the 7 hills! Now that we're feeling better, we've been passing the time by talking about our future families. The volunteers say I am a cuddly, loyal, funny, and lovable pup. I love my humans and I promise to pay you back double the love that I receive! I love to snuggle up to my favorite humans and I am known to fall asleep in the volunteers' laps when I fatigue from romping around with my mates. I can be a little intimidated by strangers, but it takes me no time at all to become everyone's best friend. I would appreciate a slow introduction to other dogs, especially when they are bigger than me, but I'm a fast learner, and will understand quickly who wants to be my friend! I get really excited when working on my training, especially when I do something right and earn extra treats! The volunteers here call me "food motivated"... I don't quite understand that phrase, but it has "food" in it, so it must be something good! Just recently I flew to LA to meet my foster family! I am so excited to be one step closer to my furever home! I have two big doggie foster brothers here who have made me realize how much I appreciate having a fellow four-legged friend around. Especially in new situations, I gain a lot of confidence from seeing my bros so courageously navigating life. I want to be just like them when I grow up! Nothing makes me more excited than the thought of having a family to call my own! I can't wait to meet you.
