My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here! I am in a foster home with my sisters - Blanche, Dorothy, and Sophia - where we are learning to go potty outside, walk on a leash, come when called (one I'm really good at), and all the other things like basic manners. Our foster mom keeps saying things like "SIT", but I have no clue what the means, my sister, Blanche, seems to think she wants us to jump on her and bite her knees. There are two big dogs in the house, but we only get to meet one of them, and he loves to lead us around the yard and show us all the fun spots to go potty. There are also a couple tiny kittens, I'm very interested in them but haven't had a chance to get a real good sniff yet. Our foster mom keeps calling us the "Golden Girls" which I think means we are the best girls. She also keeps singing to us, "Thank you for being a friend", I think we are her only friends or something. Dorothy and her siblings were born on an Amish farm. When someone came across the Amish family giving away the puppies, she was able to grab them all along with their mother, who appears to be a Poodle. Mom found a home right away, and the puppies came into rescue to get all of their vetting needs met and find the best possible forever homes. Dad is unknown, but he is thought to be a Heeler. Be sure to research these breeds a bit before bringing one of these babies home, as "doodles" are very smart and can be high maintenance and high energy, so they'll need a strong leader and plenty of training. They also tend to have more needs with grooming, although these puppies don't seem to have the dense, curly hair that you see on many poodles and doodles, it's more straight and wiry. Dorothy was an owner surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start's adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
