Dove i
s from Texas. She was found running loose in a residential neighborhood, skinny and very obviously malnourished. After her stray hold was up, she was brought into rescue. She has been nursed back to health, has absolutely flourished while in rescue, and
now
it's time to find this sweet playful girl a home of her very own here in MN. Dove is pretty much potty trained, but will have potty accidents in the house if she's just having too much fun playing and doesn't want
to
stop.. typical puppy behavior.. lol. Puppies are really all on the same schedule.. sleep, eat, play, poop and repeat. About 20-30 minutes after her meals, a trip outside for about 15-20 minutes should do the trick. Always giving her enough time outside (5 minutes is not enough for a puppy all the time.. lol) should to the trick, and she should be completely potty trained in no time. Dove is crate trained, taking her meals and high value treats there, as well as sleeping soundly through the night. Since Dove is just a puppy, at times she might have a tough time settling in her crate.. covering the crate with a large blanket or sheet should help her settle during those moments.. leaving a radio or Tv on also helps if its possible. Dove is not completely leash trained yet, but her foster has been working on it. Taking nightly walks with her so she can sniff around and explore her surroundings would be a wonderful place to start working on those leash manners. Just remember that the walks are for her enrichment, and keep training sessions short, and maybe work them in on the way back to the house when things aren't as fresh and new. Dove is a sweet little girl who absolutely loves to be outside and playing! She is a big stick eater, so she does need to be monitored while
she's
outside, and sticks do need to be taken away when she gets a little too rambunctious with the chewing, as they can cause problems. She would do best in a home with a friendly, confident resident dog to show her the ropes.. this little girl is such a "monkey see, monkey do" kind of pup, but that is in no way shape or form a requirement of adoption. Dove gets along with everyone, but she is a puppy, and will jump up, and still has some puppy mouthing behaviors. Because of this, we do not
recommend
her for homes with younger children, as they could get knocked over, or mouthed a bit aggressively. Those little puppy teeth are sharp! She is also good with cats, but will bark at them initially until she figures out how to interact/play with them. As hard as she plays, this sweet little girl settles down quickly when it's snuggle time! Her fosters say that she absolutely loves to be held like a little baby.. belly up.. lol. Dove is looking for a family with another playful dog, or a kiddo or two that will play with her and love her, if you think that
you
could give this sweet girl her happily ever after, please fill out an adoption
application today.. she can't wait to meet you!
