My Story

Duke was an owner surrender after being tied to a short chain for a couple of years. Unfortunately he didn't have great nutrition growing up, so Duke is on the smaller side for a 6 year old male Pyrenees. When he was rescued, he was approximately 64 lbs. but now he's thriving and weighing in around 80 lbs after a little over two months. Duke loves his people to give him pets and treats and will even sit for a good brushing. He's a beautiful boy and very sweet. He will give the 'pyr paw' to show affection. He currently resides with two adult female Pyrenees in his foster home and loves to play with them. Duke is food motivated and loves his treats. He is up to date on all his shots, microchipped, and healthy. Duke has lived as an outside dog, however he is not a livestock guardian. He spends his nights in a garage for safety because he's an escape artist. He's also very frightened of thunderstorms and needs a safe space until they're over. Duke will need a 6 ft privacy fence or a wrought iron/aluminum fence that he cannot climb. If you are looking for a wonderful companion to hang out with you on the patio, Duke is your guy! And with his love for being where you are, we think Duke would transition well to being an indoor/outdoor dog. Being fostered in Wellsville, KS Adoption Requirements *A 6 ft fence (not chain link) *A home visit *A vet check with at least a two year vet history Adopters can be located in Missouri and surrounding states: Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. We are able to help transport to those states.
