My Story

If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application. ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis. We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes. Meet Duke. I'm an Irish Wolfhound black/white puppy with a heart as big as my paws. I love lounging in the sun, enjoy making new friends and love being part of the family, 'my pack.' Where you go, I go. I am an affectionate rescue pup who loves nothing more than being by your side. I was rescued from a kill shelter along with my brother, Beau. We have been fostered in the same house since we were approximately 10 weeks old. We both are mischievous (hide your shoes!), playful puppies but also have a calm and relaxed demeanor and love to snuggle up with our people. My brother and I love all toys, especially anything that squeaks or when we can play tug-of-war with someone. We are both ALL PUPPY and will need some patience learning a new house but both of us are willing and eager to listen and learn. Our foster home has several animals and we're great with people of all ages and we really love the company of other dogs. We really want to be part of our forever 'pack' and will learn how our new pup siblings (or cat) siblings like to play. We're very curious about the kittens who are being fostered with us and I think they love to play chase. I'm not aggressive to the cat, kittens, senior dog, the other pups & young children who are in my foster home. I just want to be loved and snuggled. I like to have my ears scratched, stealing items off the kitchen counter (which I'm not quite tall enough, but soon...the vet said at my 13 week appointment I will easily be a 100lb, very tall Irish Wolfhound mix) tall enough to steal a treat yet be able to stand and give you a hug. I'm doing my best to be potty trained and go outside. I am crate trained and when nobody is around to watch me, I usually go to my crate to nap. My foster home has a doggy door and a fenced in backyard and I have learned to use the door to let myself out and go to the bathroom. I am praised often, given a treat and catching on very quickly. I have recently started walking more with a leash and get excited when I go to new places. I am healthy, neutered, microchipped, up to date on my vaccines and being fostered in Brownsburg. Our estimated birthday is 03/24/24.If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application. If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here.
