Hi! My name is Duke and I’m 5 years young. My favorite things are sunbathing on a nice soft dog bed, playing with my toys, taking long walks and of course belly rubs! Typical of Boston Terriers, I’ve got the heart of a big dog in a little 25lb body. My previous owners didn’t have much time to spend with me so my foster parents are teaching me basic obedience like “Sit”, “Stay”, “Down” and “Wait”. They say I’m very smart, but having a few extra treats in your pocket will help ensure my success. I can be a bit stubborn and dominant at times so I need an owner that will be persistent and patient. I ended up with a brother or sister they would be laid back and maybe submissive.
Although I’ve only been with them a short time, I’ve adjusted well to their daily routine. I know the basics of pottying, but sometimes I forget, so positive encouragement and routines are important to me. I am crate trained when you go away but because I spent a lot of time in there in my previous home, I wouldn’t do well in there for hours on end. I am FULL of energy and would love to be in a home that will provide an outlet for that energy. I am pretty good on leash but could use a little help but would love to take long walks with my family.
There is a child under 5 in my foster home and I am good with her but she is very respectful of animals so I could be with children who were taught how to handle dogs and are gentle. I love my foster home but, what I’d really like for Christmas is a new forever home.
Duke is currently being fostered in south central Pennsylvania. Transport assistance is available with adoptions.
We require an application, homecheck and adoption fee. To complete an adoption application please visit
www.nebostonrescue.orgThere is a $10 application fee which helps to defer our costs. This does not guarantee the dog you are asking about . We have many dogs not on Petfinder and do our best to find the perfect match for both the family and the dog.
