My Story

Adopted!

Eddie - Jack Russell Terrier - M/N - 3 years old - 22 pounds - tri-color

Eminently happy, Eddie is also a very devoted dog. He has an amazingly intent way of looking directly into one's eyes, as if he is truly considering the merit of of what is being said, and his head tilts back and forth as he gives his full attention to his caregiver.

Wonderfully athletic and filled with energy, Eddie is not nervous nor is he highstrung. He is absolutely happy as can be to recline on the sofa;he is also able to leap deftly into a lap, and there he would remain forever if it were possible! He is a true nuzzler and cuddler, and he loves to be rubbed and hugged. He has absolutely no touchy nor sensitive spots, and he is grateful for every bit of attention he receives.

Eddie is a very handsome dog; long of leg, lean and agile. He has a wonderful curiousity, and enjoys his little stash of toys, especially the ones that are fuzzy or stuffed. He is quiet, and when he does "voice" it is with a funny, throaty little rumble. He greets people with keen interest and enjoyment, and is excellent with cats.

He is impeccably housetrained, and his manners are quite good, except for a penchant to pull on a leash, which he is currently concentrating on resolving. As he has a very great desire to please, his foster mom thinks that this and any training will be enjoyable and successful; Eddie is not only quite intelligent, but he seems often to be waiting for a command, as if to say, "Go ahead - ask me to do something!."

Eddie is fluent in basic commands like "come", "sit", and "down". He has a stable, very adaptable nature, and he rides calmly and joyfully in a car.

Overall, Eddie is a people dog, and although he is spirited by nature, he would always choose snuggling over any other prospect. While his gentle, friendly and companionable nature is a huge plus, it is also the reason that our organization was given Eddie; his former owners, unable to spend time with him, would put him outside in the yard, and Eddie, with his agility and problem solving capacity, had no problem going over the fence in search of a friend.

Eddie is by no means an "escape artist" in the classical sense; he actually has no desire to run away from home, but rather a very strong desire to be important and useful and loved in his own back yard. To the adopter(s) looking for a real family member, Eddie would offer himself heart and soul.
