Emily came to us from a kill shelter where her days were numbered because she is heartworm positive. She is too old for traditional treatment, so she will need to stay on Heartguard monthly until she tests negative. That could be a year or longer. She is not symptomatic, so it is not really affecting her quality of life. She is older, we are guessing ten years. Poor girl! She needs someone with a huge heart to give her a great life for whatever time she has left. She was a stray so we know nothing about her past life. She was found with Mabel, we are guessing they are mother and daughter.

She is a typical hound who has her nose to the ground 24/7. She is easy-going, getting along with other dogs, cats and whoever she meets. She will need a fenced in yard to be happy and safe in her new home.

This dog's adoption fee is $165 (plus tax). This includes being spayed/neutered, teeth cleaning and pulling, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, wormed, microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, heartworm tested (negative) and medicated during the heartworm season (year round) while in our care, comes with a Gentle Leader headcollar (if we feel it is needed), and is currently learning Basic Obedience commands and good doggie manners.
