FARLEY
Turner, Maine
Farley is 8 years old and is showing a little gray - but he is no way old or slow. He loves to go for walks in the woods and would enjoy a companion that would walk with him daily.
Poor Farley's story is not unusual but is heartbreaking just the same. All this poor boy has ever wanted is a family to love him and to make a lifetime commitment to him - but instead his life has been a tale of loss and abandonment. Read Farley's full story
In his lifetime Farley has been abandoned at a shelter, lost a caretaker to cancer and most recently, had his family move to another state with the promise of returning for him later - but then deciding it was too much trouble to come back for him - leaving him stranded once again - dependent on the kindess of strangers. We are hoping and praying that his next family will keep their lifetime commitment to this poor boy.
Farley is good with other dogs. He has lived with many throughout his life and is currently sharing his foster home with a male Cattle dog. Farley would be equally happy as an only dog with all of the attention to himself. Alternatively,
Farley is much too interested in felines to live with them and should go to a home where no kitties reside.
One of Farley's best attributes is his love for children. Farley is WONDERFUL with children of all ages. He has lived with newborns and toddlers.
Farley may be an older boy - but he is true to his hound heritage and will follow his nose if given the opportunity. He is not a dog that will be able to run safely off leash in an unfenced area. Farley MUST have a home with a securely fenced in yard.
He may look like a hunting dog - but Farley is far from it. He is scared of gun shots and other loud noises (fireworks, thunderstorms).
Farley is a mellow, sweet boy who enjoys being pet, going for walks and taking good nap on the couch. He certainly does not deserve the hand in life that he has been dealt. We are hoping that someone out there reads this story and opens their heart and home to this wonderful dog - who is besides himself after being left behind once again.
Farley would be the perfect companion for an active retiree.
His ideal home would be:
-- One where he is not left alone for long periods of time
-- One with a physically fenced in yard (required)
-- One with a family that will love him for the rest of his life (required).
Please help us to find Farley his retirement home. He deserves a family to call his own - one that understands that a pet is a lifetime commitment and not disposable.
