My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Flor, 6 years old, spayed female, Bulldog mix, 85 pounds. She is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and is able to transport out of State once an adopter is approved. We will first note that this girl has been on a weigh loss program with her foster mom haha. She has another 10 pounds or so to go, so will need a home that will continue to monitor her food intake. Flor is incredibly friendly and happy to socialize with any human- big or small. Her foster parents had a small house party and she did so great meeting a lot of new people. She has been around kids as young as 10 years old and loved all the pets and scratches. We always recommend homes with kids who both understand and respect animal boundaries. Flor was previously in a foster home where she did fine with the other dogs. Unfortunately, she was left out unsupervised and when that foster came home found that one of the resident dogs had attacked her. She immediately received vet care and was moved to a new foster home. Due to this, we have had her assessed with a trainer to see if there were any repercussions regarding her attitude towards other dogs. She did really well meeting other dogs. Our trainer noted she was tense/nervous at first, but quickly adapted and great skills. He noted she will do best with slow introductions and around another dog who is confident. Her current foster home does not have other dogs. She has met dogs out on walks and even had one stranger ask if their dog could play with her. She was very sweet and did really well. We want to add slow introductions look like initial separation and having the dogs only interact on walks over the first few days. From there, you continue to monitor until you feel comfortable with off leash interactions. She has not shown any aggression and does not react negatively to new dogs. We do not think she is cat friendly based on her running to chase and bark after stray cats in the backyard/neighborhood. Flor will initially pull on leash and stops after a little while. She really really loves walking. Our hope is her forever home would enjoy walks with her too. She is crated when her foster parents are out of the house and does well. She is fully housebroken. We have found that she prefers her water bowl is inside her crate otherwise she doesn't drink water. Not surprising, she is very excited for treats and can be a little over excited when taking them from your hand. Her foster mom makes her wait and encourages her to take them gently. She tends to match whatever energy her people have. Her current home is lower energy and she does just great. Her foster mom thinks if another home was more active, she would have no issue keeping up. She rides really really well in the car. She is SUPER affectionate. Her foster mom says this about her, "Flor is a super silly, sweet, loving girl, she is independent and loves to be with her humans. She will be your shadow." She loves belly rubs and picks up on things very quickly. When she is really exited she hops like a bunny or tap dances! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
