Freckles

Freckles is a male lab/cattle dog mix with beautiful blue eyes, about 1 1/2 years old. Weighing in at 32 pounds, he's about knee height.

Freckles is a special dog, as he is deaf.

Freckles came to our organization infested with ticks and in horrible pain from a badly broken hind leg. Rather than euthanize him because they couldn't pay for his care, his owners surrendered him to VCA Coast Animal Hospital. Our veterinarians treated him for the ticks and surgically repaired his leg, which has healed nicely.

We have experienced some minor aggression against other dogs with Freckles, and, due to Freckles' deafness, we suspect he was surprised at the other dogs' sudden presence. We will include the services of a professional animal behaviorist to help a local adopter train the deaf Freckles. The professional trainer will teach the new family how to best manage Freckles as he meets and interacts with people as well as with others of his kind.

Freckles is very bright and responsive and will be a delight to train. He already knows and obeys the hand signal to "sit".

When approached via his visual field, Freckles is very sweet and very loving - given an opportunity, he will even sit in your lap!

He's healthy, housebroken, neutered, up to date with vaccinations, and ready for a special, loving home.
