Together, Freckle and Chip are a mighty duo. They share a tight bond, happily sharing their food, water, toys and cuddles.
Freckle is an adventurous soul, always eager to explore. Initially shy, but once comfortable, her excitement shines through. She's a very shy girl especially at the beginning. However even when she's nervous never shows any aggressive behavior.
When she's in the house she loves laying on the couch with Chips or looking out the window.
Outside she loves to run, she's got energy and her and Chips chase each other.
They are friendly with my dogs, but mostly keep to themselves.
The come command is a work in progress, and with time, once she gets closer to her human and learns to trust she should improve.
Chips, on the other hand, is the epitome of affection, a dedicated cuddler. This girl loves cuddles. She can sit by my side on the couch and sleep for a long time as long as Freckles is by her side as well. Chips is very friendly with humans while inside the house, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. When she's outside she tends to try to run away. Same as Freckles she needs time to trust her humans, she needs more training on the come command.
Both girls are good in their crates, they spend the night there with no issues. As well, they need to be crated when left without supervision.
Both dogs are sensitive to loud noises, often exhibiting a strong freeze response. Despite this, they would make excellent walking, hiking or running companions, boasting abundant energy. They fit in well with an active family with older children. They have met their foster’s grandchildren who are between the ages of 6 and 10 and did very well.
In the evening and weekend they are social butterflies, they thrive with other dogs, reveling in playtime, while showing a casual indifference towards bunnies. However, they haven't been tested with cats. Yet no prey indication exhibited toward wild bunnies and squirrels. I would suggest a fully fenced yard for them to work off their energy and to offer bathroom breaks.
While towels in their crate might meet an unfortunate end, they sleep soundly in their dog beds. Car rides may not be their favorite, but with time and exposure, they're learning to cope better. They generally sleep well through the night.
During walks, they may be reluctant to return home initially, especially until they're fully accustomed to their new surroundings. Individual walks may be necessary at first, using their food drive to encourage them.
Friendly with other dogs and wildlife, they require a securely fenced yard to burn off their energy. Regular walks, paired with positive reinforcement training using food rewards, keep them happily engaged. Currently they are on dry food which they enjoy.
They truly will be a beautiful addition to any active home. Where they will bring endless joy and laughter with their antics. There will be no shortage of cuddles and kisses.
