FRED

FRED is a 5 year old male chihuahua that weighs 15 lbs. He is a shy, gentle little dog that is working hard to enjoy a better life. He came to us from a hoarding situation. A senior became ill and left 8 little dogs behind in her home. They were well fed but poorly socialized. FRED started with us in foster care. Earlier this year, he graduated to our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. For most dogs, this program is designed to address obedience issues, for others, the socialization aspects of the environment are perfect. And we love it when "a plan comes together!" FRED can walk on a leash, sit on command and sit up for a treat! His greatest accomplishment? He loves his inmate and will readily jump into his lap. Many of us take this show of affection for granted. For Fred, he's finally realizing his human buddy is a what a little chihuahua is meant to do. Next steps? FRED is ready to graduate from Paws Behind Bars. He's ready for his own home. The "right" fit for him will be in a quiet, adult home. He will do best with a gentleman owner.
