Gardenia

Meet Gardenia, a sweet Spaniel mix with an endearing personality and an extra-long tongue that often hangs out, making her irresistibly cute. Gardenia’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was picked up off the streets of Kern County by animal control and brought to a high-kill shelter. Terrified and hiding in a corner, it was clear she didn’t belong there. She must have been someone’s pet at some point because she arrived at the shelter obese, having been fed an unhealthy amount of food before being forgotten and let go. We couldn’t bear to see her suffer in the sweltering heat without air conditioning, so we rescued her. Gardenia is now in foster care, enjoying quality food and a diet plan. She’s lost about half the weight she needed to and is feeling like a new puppy with more energy, better mobility, and the ability to go up and down stairs with ease. Gardenia is friendly with other dogs but prefers not to play with them. She’s a quiet girl, and her foster family has never heard her bark. She is crate trained and house trained. While she needs some work on a leash, it’s evident she was never taken for walks before. However, she’s making progress and learning quickly. Gardenia is a laid-back, lazy girl who enjoys taking many naps throughout the day. This sweet girl is looking for someone who will love and commit to her for a lifetime. She’s perfect for someone with a laid-back lifestyle who wants a cuddly buddy. Gardenia is ready to bring joy and companionship to her forever home.
