COURTESY POSTING: Hello there! I’m Gavin and I am an adorable 11-month-old Treeing Walker Coonhound. I weigh about 40 lbs and I’m a total cuddle bug! My family and I (all 9 of us!) were rescued from a shelter in Mississippi that was hit hard by the hurricane and was going to put us to sleep.

I was actually adopted first but I couldn’t stay because the other dogs there didn’t like me too much. While I was there though, I became quite social... and housetrained!

Because of my terrifying history, I’m a little skeptical of people at first, but once I get to know you, I will crawl up in your lap and snuggle as long as you’ll let me.

Don’t let my shyness fool you! When I get comfortable, I’m a high-energy hound and I love to play for hours on end! I need LOTS of exercise and I would love to have a doggie brother or sister to romp with. I will follow my nose so a fenced-in yard would be ideal. An electric fence won’t work for me.

I’m having a great time hanging out with my foster mom and playing with her other dogs but I would very much like a to find a home to call my own very soon... maybe yours is the perfect one!
