My Story

Please note donations using the SPONSOR ME tab will not go to Fluffy Dog Rescue. Also, we do not respond to the "Considering this pet for adoption" link on the right hand side of the listings. This is put on by Petfinder and we operate differently. We want you to go to our website and complete and application. To Locate Our Application go to http://rescue.fluffydog.net/how-to-adopt.html MY AGE: DOB 8/10/14 WEIGHT: approx. 9 lbs MY STORY: Gertie is the sweetest most gentle ever breeder release currently fostered in the Hartland area. She is progressing nicely after years of being a breeder and although moving at her own pace she’s making progress and we feel joy with every paw forward!! Gertie does accept pets, will take treats by hand, but is not treat motivated and although not a cuddler she’s a great pal who follows us around the house. Her company shows her love for us. Gertie can easily be startled & will go low to the floor when you pick her up and that helps make it easier!! She's very quick & scampers like a little bunny at times so we are careful to be sure no doors are left open. Gertie likes to be where her people are and will seek you out if you're not in the same room. That’s such a positive with her and we adore knowing she’s always near. We have a large crate in the LR where she likes to nap in a cozy bolster bed and eat her meals. Gertie only has 1 sparkly tooth and has a healthy appetite! Loves her small bite kibble mixed with bone broth & soft food. She does not show any interest in toys but is curious and bright eyed and creates zero damage to our possessions! She has an indoor playpen in the office where she sleeps at night, keeps it clean & no accidents. Gertie has free reign of the house during the day. She would love her adopter to be home with her and does well in a crate by herself for short periods of time. She likes to put her paws on the ledge of our bow window to peek outside. She mostly does this when I take our dog outside so she can keep an eye on us. She does not jump up on furniture, even with pet steps but we can lift her up. She no longer faces the back of the seat in the car and now faces forward and is gaining confidence when riding. She recently had her nails clipped & hair trimmed. She did very well with that and is such a pretty little peanut. Gertie is very hesitant to potty outside (Its a big world out there!) but does great with potty pads. That might be great for a person who doesn’t have much of a yard or has an apartment!! She's met a couple of small dogs in our neighborhood and loves interacting with them. Her personality lights up! We continue to work with her on a leash, using a harness, to get her more comfortable with that. This will take time & patience. Another small dog in her forever home would be needed to help build her confidence and model after. She is very quiet & rarely barks. Her breeder life is now over. This sweet little senior girl can't wait to find her forever family who will give her the love & best life she is so deserving of. We adore our girlie Gertie and know her family has to be close to finding her. She’s really such a sweet little one who is eager to listen to all your secrets and be your BFF!! ADOPTION FEE: $450 To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION. Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess. WI License #270548. Check out Fluffy Dog Wellness on our Home Page.
