Gracie's story is a sad one. She is a beautiful, purebred, tiny (7 lbs), tri-colored pekingese born to a breeder who planned to breed her for her coloring. However, Gracie had some obvious "issues" which included sleeping leaning upwards against a wall! She also appeared to lethargic and gasped for air. Gracie was deemed "non-breeding" and surrendered to rescue. She saw our vet immediately and it was determined that her nasal passages had grown shut! She simply could not breathe! Eating was a challenge because she was chewing and breathing through her mouth! Our vet was amazed that she has survived to reach her age of 14 months old!
Gracie is scheduled for surgery on 9/14/10 to reconstruct her nasal openings to allow her to breathe normally. By the end of the week, she should feel like a normal, healthy, happy young peke girl! We are very excited to offer this lovely, sweet, gentle little dog for adoption. She is sure to bring many years of blessed memories to some lucky home!

Vet, personal, and groomer (if applicable) references will be required and will be checked.
WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption fees differ from dog to dog and are non-negotiable. We accept CASH ONLY. Fees cover the vet care, quality food, and medications necessary to care for the dog while in our foster home. We are volunteers - no paid employees here! Fees and donations are the only means to support our continuing rescue efforts. Adoption fees are non-negotiable.

DO YOU ADOPT OUT OF STATE?
Yes, when it is the best home for the dog. Transportation arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the adopter in addition to the adoption fee. PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL NOT TRANSPORT AIR FREIGHT PUPPIES YOUNGER THAN 6 MONTHS OR SMALLER THAN 8 LBS. YOU MUST PICK UP THESE PUPPIES.
