Thank you Esquivel family of Athol, ID!********************************************************************UPDATE 2-11-10, Family tragedy has forced Gracie's owner to have to return her to us to seek a new home. This is what she had to say about who Gracie has become in her care: My name is Grace but my old owner called me Gracie; started as a joke since I was not exactly graceful in my early puppy stages. I LOVE to be loved-very affectionate and good around other dogs (haven't been around cats) but haven't learned to be watching out where I step around them, yet, and sometimes trample right over the little ones, kids too!! I look forward to playing with my rope toy and I will bring it to you - If you tell me to "drop it" and not take it until I do then my teeth don't accidently run into you. Love to fetch a frisbee and ball outside. They were teaching me to walk on a leash though I am still not sure of THAT! I'm "mostly" housebroke, and sometimes dig hole in the yard when I'm bored and unsupervised. I snuggle and give kisses and LIVE for being close to my family. It would break my heart to be tossed outside and left there to live - I am dedicated to my family and will be to yours too. If you say "dit-dit" in a stern voice I listen and stop what I am doing< IF you happen to catch me being naughty! I was told I had to go in order for my owner to take care of a severly disabled and blind family member. As you will see in the pictures, I am just the most adorable, lovable doggie around. Please love me as much as my former owners did. Oh and yes, I do try to snuggle down and fit into the dog bed for my little sister the mini schnauzer. I think I am small and my family laughs at this and says I am NOT a tiny little doggie. **********************************************************************************************************************In 10-16-09. Brookie is a super cute, altho hugely malnourished puppy. We rescued her and her two brothers and their mother from a very poor family, down on their luck. The dogs hadn't been fed, or watered, regularly, and were full of worms and fleas. We have taken care of the parasites, and got shots on board, but it will take weeks to overcome the effects of being starved. This puppy is 14 weeks old and weighs 16#'s. She should weigh about 25-30# at this age. Her mother was a purebred Boxer, little tiny brindle girl, who went to Boxer Rescue in Post Falls, ID. Her daddy is a HUGE blue merle purebred Great Dane, whom we are still trying to get the family to surrender. Brooklyn will need (required) a HIGH quality puppy food (such as Eagle Pack Super Premium Large/Giant breed Puppy, go to www.eaglepack.com to see if you have a retailer near you), regular vet care, the rest of her puppy shots and another round or two of dewormer. We will take care of all this while she's in our care, or you can adopt her now and take care of it with your personal vet. Our Dr. said she should have no ill effects once we get her on the road to proper growth and weight gain. She just may not get as big as she may have with proper nutrition, both while in the womb and afterwards... I just can't figure out what's wrong with people!!!!!!!!! Rember, spread the word, spay and neuter is cheap and easy. Any local Rescue group will gladly help someone who can't afford it.
