My Story

Meet an absolutely handsome boy who is so very deserving of a forever family! Grover had a rough start in life. He was one of a group of 8 dogs that were rescued in an animal cruelty case. Grover was the weakest and skinniest of them all weighing just 32lbs. He is now flourishing in his foster home! He loves pets, especially booty scratches but is not overly affectionate as of yet. He will curl up at the opposite end of the couch when tired, but he is slowly seeking more cuddles as he gets comfortable in his fabulous, new life! Grover is comfortable with both women and men, but seems more comfortable with women. He has some fear of very loud, deep voices, however he warms up with treats, food and calm energy! Grover was most likely kept in a crate his whole life. He becomes anxious in new surroundings until he is comfortable in a space. He does sleep quietly in his crate overnight, with a comfy bed and fluffy blanket inside. Grover most likely never had toys or anything of enrichment. He loves to destroy stuffies, and finds great joy in getting every last pick of stuffing out )it’s the little things in life). He also enjoys puzzles toys and homemade enrichment activities! Grover gets along with his foster sister who is a 10 1/2 y/o female staffie, but he doesn't pay her too much attention most of the time. When they do play, he tends to get too rambunctious for her, especially with his paws, but he takes her corrections well. He would benefit from continued socialization with other friendly dogs who can match his energy. Quriks: Grover would thrive in a loving, understanding, mid-activity home. His people would be patient and understand if he was anxious/uncomfortable and be willing to work with him in feeling safe in new situations. He has some pretty significant scarring from an embedded collar, so we always use a harness for walks. Grover is super sweet, despite all he has gone through and will show love and loyalty to whoever chooses to make him part of their family.
