My Story

Available to Adopt - Gully Current location - Toledo, OH Meet Gully, the boy with the most adorable underbite ever! And he also comes armed with a full tail, no nub for this boy! Gully is a typical high energy boxer, but he also knows when to calm down. Gully has a little "cloudy" of a background and there are some things we will never know for sure. Gully came to us as a stray that was in shelter care. He was very skinny, had some compression sores and a nasty infection. These issues have been dealt with, and he has no known medical issues. As for other unknowns, first is an exact age. He was originally estimated at 5 years at the shelter, but our vets and foster have guessed him to be much younger, possibly as young as 2. Gully does take a little time to feel comfortable with new people. This undoubtedly is due to his previous "life". Once he knows you, he is very friendly and loving and adapts to new routines quickly. He does get startled with new noises outside the home, and will be vocal about it. His foster is working to help build his confidence with new noises and people, and his adoptive home will need to continue with this. Gully is a highly trainable boy and learns new commands quickly. He is a very smart boy and very receptive to training. We hope to find him a home committed to further training, as he has the ability to go far and excel at it. He has been crate trained, and does well. He is potty trained, though as usual, will likely need a refresher course in his new home as he learns his new environment. He tends to be more on the submissive side with other dogs. He is not a food snatcher, and if he has his preference, he will remain a grazer, not a gulper, LOL. He would love to have a playful dog friend in his new home. He is very good at adjusting his play style to the needs of other dogs. Gully does not seem to have much interest in cats, so we are not certain how he would do with them. His foster mom does believe he would chase chickens if given the chance, but respects their boundary when they are in their pen. Mr. Gully would love to find a loving home that will help him continue to build his confidence and become the best dog he can be.
