My Story

Note: Dogs are pack animals and do not do well away from other members of their pack. The adopter is the alpha member of the pack, and the dog or puppy needs as much one-on-one contact with the alpha as possible. For this reason, all Route 66 Rescue Inc. dogs are adopted to inside homes only. They must be on leash, or inside a secure fence when outside, and not left outside alone when no one is home. Invisible fencing does not qualify as protection since other animals and strangers have access to the dog. The dogs must be returned to Route 66 Rescue, Inc. if ever given up by the adopter. Thank you for understanding we want only the best for the dogs you give a forever home. Jack/Jax/Jackson (he comes to all) is bigger and brawnier than his sister, Sally, but not by a lot. He's a calm boy. He may be a digger but we've only seen him dig when helping dig plant holes. Mostly, he is happy to play with his toys, and he loves to snuggle. Jack escaped the yard through an open gate, but came back when called. Potty training is still imperfect with anolder dog marking but they are doing well with it. Jack loves hanging outside & he spends hours outside playing and just sunning himself. Jack is a very good boy. He listens well, likes to snuggle, and is inquisitive. He will play a lot but is not bouncy or bitey. He is working on commands like sit. He's smart & figures things out quickly. Jack is teething but he stays occupied with lots of toys and marrow bones. There have been fewer potty accidents than last week. He loves being outdoors, and to just hang out outside all afternoon when it's nice. He has never tried to escape the yard or dig under the fence. He enjoys wrestling and playing with toys. There are no signs of aggression. He obeys a grumpy, elder dachshund when he tells him to back off. There is no fighting, no biting. Just a happy puppy growing and learning. If you would like to meet this neat boy, please email [email protected] for an adoption application. His adoption fee is $200.
