Jack

Meet Jack! This poor guy was surrendered after his owner passed away from a long battle with cancer. They've had Jack since he was a puppy and he has been in the same home for the past 5 years before coming to us. The owner's 83 year old mother was not able to care for him on her own and he was shelter bound before we stepped in. The owner's sister in law explained to us that Jack had an injury since he was a puppy- but she did not know what exactly happened- but Jack has limped all of his life. From our understanding he never received any x rays or treatment- which was the first thing our vet did once they surrendered him. A team of vets concluded Jack has been in pain the entire time when weight is beared on his rear left foot and we discussed the options to help him. It was decided that it was best to try and save his leg and we amputated the middle toes that were dragging along the ground. They did the surgery at the same time as his neuter and we are happy to report that Jack has healed beautifully from the surgery. Jack is feeling a million times better and is a happy active boy now that he can use all of his legs without pain! Jack is not considered special needs since he is like a normal dog. He gets around great without needing help. He runs as if there's no holding him back haha. He would do best with another large dog and he is very friendly with all people. Jack is about 5-6 years old now but has energy like a younger dog. He weighs about 60 lbs and is heartworm negative. Jack is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.
