My Story

Jamie is a tri-colored boy who came to BHRG from the Humane Society in Dalton. He is up-to-date on shots, is neutered, and completed treatment for heartworms. Jamie is a very affectionate hound. He actually has quite a bit of separation anxiety which means we have accidents waiting us when we come home. When at home, he's right next to his people and loves to curl up by you on the sofa or on a dog bed that's nearby. Other than that, he's taken quite well to the dog door. Jamie gets along pretty well with the other dogs in his foster home. When the alpha female fusses at him, Jamie stands up for himself but doesn't get too physical. He has been gaining weight but will be a smaller basset. He loves attention and would be best as an only dog or with just one more. While at adoptions he tends to be a bit nervous, but he does warm up to other dogs pretty quickly. He loves walks and gets very excited when the leash is brought out. He actually dances about on his hind legs while waiting to go on his morning walks. He doesn't pull too much and we're working on getting him more manners. He'd make someone a very good companion. When he gets adopted, he really needs to be crated for the first month or three until he is convinced that people will come back. He is definitely vocal about being left alone or when he's mad at one of the other dogs. He's learning to respond to correction and with patience, Jamie will be a very good hound for someone. He's still learning but is a really active hound - lots of energy and is doing quite well. For more photos and for information on adopting this dog, please visit http://www.bhrg.org.
