Hi, meet Jasper! He's looking for either a foster or adoptive home with availability to provide training! This 13 month old (as of Feb 2024) Blue Heeler was rescued after his owner was convinced to surrender him after he was seen treating the pup quite poorly. He's been with a foster through the rescue for a few months now and he LOVES to follow his foster around, be told that he's a good boy, and get pets. He's a very sweet boy, but due to the background that he came from, he does struggle with things like resource guarding, and will chase cats (never hurts them, just chases them, but sadly that makes him not the best fit for his current foster as there are cats in the home). This boy doesn't like to be ignored and wants attention, but due to his background, needs a home where someone with experience training a pup and is around enough to provide him with some consistency so that he can learn that his person is the pack leader and what are the rules to follow. He is mostly housebroken with only the occasional accident (training actively in the works) and while we believe that he would do well around another playful pup that wouldn't try to dominate him, he's a little to young and active for older pups that want to be left alone. Basically, he's a 14 month old puppy that is finally now learning how to be a responsible dog because he didn't learn those skills prior to being rescued, and is re-learning that people can be kind, but are also the boss. Although this pup will take some dedicated training, we absolutely believe that he was worth rescuing and that he deserves the opportunity to become a wonderful pet and live a happy life with someone who will appreciate him and treat him well. But for now, he's probably best suited for a home with no cats, and probably no kids.
