My Story

Jazzy is currently a fospice (foster-hospice) dog, meaning she will live the rest of her life in a foster home. Jazzy's food and medication costs about $35 per week. If you would like to help us help Jazzy, visit www.mittenmuttsdogrescue.com/donate She was originally a stray back in April 2022, and spent some time at animal control as they worked to figure out some medical concerns that she had. She was finally able to see a specialist in July and received a diagnosis of- extrahepatic shunts and hepatopathy. In simple terms, she has abnormal blood vessels that keep blood from being properly filtered through the liver, and permanent liver damage. The specialists do not consider her a surgical candidate. What does this mean? Jazzy is considered hospice. A lovely couple is fostering her for the rest of her life. She gets daily medication and a prescription diet, which costs $130 per month. She suffers from fatigue and some mild neurological symptoms, which they are hopeful will improve with a new medication. She is only 3-4 years old and the doctors can not say how long she has left...it could be just months, or it could be a couple of years, depending on how she responds to medication and diet. But we do know one thing for certain - she deserves to spend whatever time she has left as part of a family.
