Hi, my name is Jersey. I’m an Australian Cattle Dog and turned 4 in September 2023.
I’m about 50 lbs and a total love bug. I was on the run for almost 3 months, so I’ve been through a lot. I’m a very sweet boy who wants to make my humans happy. I’m very intuitive about what the humans around me are feeling, and if someone is sad, I notice and I give them a “hug.” I adore getting and giving love, kisses and snuggles.
Due to my previous time on the run, we suggest a 6' privacy fence. But if you are an active person or family that likes to run, walk, or hike so he can burn some energy without a fenced yard, please don't let the fact you may not have a fence deter you from applying. If you only have a 4-5' chain link fence, he likely shouldn't be left unattended in the yard though...see his "Mountain Goat Syndrome" below. But letting him off leash to just run in the yard, will not work for him. Experience with herding breeds would also be a big plus.
Right now I timid of new dogs that I meet. My foster mom thinks that with how driven I am by wanting to be good boy that I would respond well to training if any issue arose.
But meeting new kids...I LOVE THEM!!!
My foster mom does say that I have “Mountain Goat Syndrome” - She says I am “spring-loaded”.
We were told I was good with a variety of animals in my previous home. However, my current foster does not have other animals, except a dog. Typically, herding breeds aren't the best with small animals, but every dog is different.
My ideal forever family is one that will love me as much as I will love them, and I love with my whole heart. I’d love a spot on the couch and a warm cozy bed to snuggle up to them at night.
If you’re interested in meeting me, please email TRAIN for an application.
